This Budget follows a year of
extraordinary economic challenge as a
result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The announcements set out how the
government is extending its economic
support to reflect the cautious easing
of social distancing rules and the
reopening of the economy in the
government’s roadmap.
As the economy reopens, this Budget also
sets out the steps the government is
taking to support the recovery. The
Chancellor said his immediate priority
continues to be supporting those hardest
hit, with extensions to furlough,
self-employed support, business grants,
loans and VAT cuts.
